Charlies new clothes

Charlie and I drove to Hamburg on Friday, to visit Borris, who is the man at von Z Werbewerkstätten. He is a printer by profession but as he does advertising of all sorts, he also wraps cars in vinyl. I always wanted give charlie a Gulf design based on the ’71 Prosche 917 Group C race car (or the ’70 Ford GT40) so he was the man of choice.

After a rather uneventful drive I stopped at Svens, one of our moderators, house, where i crashed on the couch or rather in the guest suite ;) So we strolled around town on Friday evening and ended up for a splendid meal in an libanese restaurant with a bunch of people from MINI²s chapter north. Borris and I agreed to meet at 11:00 am the following morning and needless to say, we were late.

Due to a slight misunderstanding, I didn’t wash Charlie before driving to Borris’ workshop, so we lost roughly another hour while I cleaned charlie with quick cleaner spray.

Actually we wanted to keep this operation under wraps, but somehow the infromation leaked and suddenly the parking lot was full of minis and people were sitting around for coffee and cake. I didn’t mind the company at all, but it kept us from working.

So I started to take Charlie apart and cleaned him really good.

So after a while we started to wrap essential parts of Charlie in foil. Borris started to do the rool and Micheal, Borris dilligent helper started wrapping the front and the grille.

At about 02:20 am we decided to call it a day. Here is the result:

I still want to try a black hood scoop, orange mirror caps and maybe a black boot handle.
Other than that I’m really happy with the outcome :)
