Off we go…

It all started after a rough night with multiple “did you pack xxxx”, “where the f#%^ is zzzz” and “damn you forgot to” moments with Sus@nne picking me up at 8:15 for the short drive with elwoods top down to FRA airport.

I checked in pretty fast and strolled the duty frees. That’s where I encountered the first WTF moment. I met my old schoolmate Jens B. at the gate to the flight to Montreal and chatted for a while before boarding and during the flight in the galley in the rear of the airbus A330. I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye, as I had to hurry for my connection.

The second WTF: It is snowing in Montreal. Go figure.

I was required to pick up my luggage in Montreal, clear canadian customs and recheck-in for my connection to Toronto. Just my luck, my suitcase turned up as one of the last at 14:00 local time and I had to be at the gate at 14:25.

So I cleared customs and dropped off my luggage again and hurried to departure hall A. I had to pass security once again. There’s nothing like getting felt up by a male security guy twice in a day and it might not be the last time ;)

I made it to the gate with 5 minutes to spare, but all haste was futile. The flight was delayed for over half an hour, as it took ages to deice the Airbus A320. Reaching my last flight out to indi will be a challenge. Once again I will have to wait for my trolley, clear customs, check in, pass security and make it to the gate in under one hour.

Okay so after the whole ordeal I have time to blog the last stint. We arrived in Toronto 47 minutes late. That left me with 53 minutes to get to my plane.

I received my luggage pretty fast after only 10 minutes, but passing US Immigration proved to be a major hurdle. The first officer turned me back to fill out a form with 28 minutes to go. I ran back to get the form and had to borrow a pen from an klerk. 3 minutes later the second try and I was again sent back as I had to fill out both sides of the f#%^ing form. So with 20 minutes to spare I reached the baggage handover ans again 2 minutes later I reached the crowded security check. Knowing the routine allrwady i ripped out my belt, took off the shoes, emptied my pockets and passed security in (for me) world record of 7 minutes.

I made the gate with 4 minutes to spare just to learn, that the plane is delayed for an hour.
Wohoooo, Indi here I come…

Now with boarding to Indianapolis completed I want to thank my travel agent for booking this adventure.
Direct flights are for whimps and nothing to write home about.

Let the fun begin.
