Bye, bye Dragon, see you soon
So now that I have slept a couple of hours and returned from the boonies, I have some time to write ;)
I tried to blog every day, but the only way to send out bytes was the wifi at the lodge and that was unreliable at some times. After it ate two of my blogs – days 2 and 4 – I stopped trying ;)
Nothing much happened on day two. I met most of the guys from m|u, drove the wonderful road to Robbinsville to fill up the fridge and had a good time.
Day 4 had more to write home about. Mark had given Hanibal (my loaner) to Way for a head transplant the evening before and it took them a bit longer to put all parts back together. So after breakfast we did a shake down to the crossroads at the dragon and on the way back to fontana we saw sonething flying from the car and cartwheeling along the middle line. Marcel was driving behind us, but t.G. didn’t get hit. It turned out to be a a socket wrench the mech forgot in the engine bay. Other than that Hanibal behaved very well.
All m|u peeps drove off to Robbinsville for lunch and had a good time. On return, I decided to visit the dragon again and did runs 2 to 5. I met Steve and Jack, who were out for a stroll too.
So once again, no damage, no tickets, but great fun. There might be a couple of pics of me on killboy, zeephoto or the other photographers websites. I’ll look for those later.
To sum up the event: The Great Smokey Mountains are really beautiful and all the roads are really fun to drive in that beautiful scenery. The great people that came to the dragon to party, chill, hang and talk were a big bonus on top. The Dragon is a challenge to drive and so much fun, even within speed limits. Was it woth it? Yes. Will I return? Most definetly! I will try to return for MOTD 2011.
