Who is this TÜV anyway … ;)

Well, Charlie’s bi-yearly technical inspection (TÜV) is overdue since end of May.

I know I’ve been slacking, but I’ve been quite busy in the last couple of weeks and was waiting for parts to arrive.

So I finally found the source for Charlies xenon problems. It was a corroded contact in the right hand side connector. I replaced the connector and now everything works fine. MINI please note: Sometimes it doesn’t pay off to build cheap…

So with that fixed, I tackeld the next problem. Charlies rear license plate lighting. The lights were out for the last couple of months and there is the stupid rule in Germany, that every light mounted on the car has to be in working order. So I replaced the whole handle bar and now the lights work again.

But I found some more troubles on Charlie while swapping the handle. There’s quite a bit of rust under the boot handle, which I have to tackle ASAP as it might be the leak where rainwater enters the car, which I have been looking for for quite a while. I might even swap the whole door if I find a good one used. But that is no issue for the technical inspection.

I decided the breaks are still good, but will upgrade to the jcw brakes at one of the next garage days. So I hope Charlie will pass the brake test anyway.

The next issue I have to tackle before getting him inspected is the crack in his windshield. I have an appointment for tuesday, so I might be done by the end of the week. Hooray :)
