One step further

Charlie went into OP today and got a new windshield, but as usual it didn’t go smoothly.

I dropped him off before work and got a taxi ride from the work shop to my office in a VW Touran taxi. The ride was an adventure, as the automatic transmission got stuck twice resulting in emergency stops and a power cycle of the whole car. The driver didn’t seem to mind and drove the remaining 3,5km to my office at warp 9 dodging other motorists like Cpt. Kirk in an asteroid field.

The surgery was scheduled for 3pm and I got a call at a quarter past three, that they’re behind schedule, as the first windshield is scratched and they ned to get a replacement in via express courier.

So the release was postponed to 18:00 to give the cement time to dry. They put on new a-pillar covers and a new chrome beltline, cleaned all windows and vacuumed the old chap.

It’s really fascinating to note, that it’s not that foggy in Germany after all. And I do somehow miss the crack in the windshield.

So yes, I’m basically done with preperations for charlies technical inspection: all lights are in working order, the brakes are fine, no cracks in windows, no leaks, fresh spark plugs to pass emissions testing.

I’m still debating, if I should put the resonator back in, before going for inspection, but I guess I will chicken out and won’t risk it.
